The Phone Started Ringing at 3:17 AM
It was 3:17 AM when my phone started ringing.
I was awake, staring at the ceiling, unable to sleep.
The room was silent. Too silent.
The screen showed “Unknown Number.”
I ignored it.
The phone rang again.
And again.
Finally, irritated, I answered.
“Hello?”
There was breathing on the other side.
Slow. Heavy. Wet.
“Who is this?” I whispered.
A voice replied,
“I’m downstairs.”
My heart skipped.
I live alone.
There is no downstairs.
I hung up.
Immediately, a notification popped up:
Missed Call — From Yourself
My hands started shaking.
The phone rang again.
This time, a message appeared:
Stop looking at your phone.
I froze.
Because at that exact moment…
I felt someone standing behind me.
Breathing.
