The Closet Door Opened by Itself – A Short Horror Story
Every night before sleeping, Kavya made sure her closet door was tightly closed.
She didn’t like it open.
It felt… wrong.
One night, around 2:25 a.m., she woke up suddenly.
Her room was dark and silent.
And the closet door was open.
Just a little.
She was sure she had closed it.
“Probably the wind,” she whispered to herself.
But her window was shut.
Trying to ignore it, she got up and pushed the door closed again.
Click.
She went back to bed.
A few minutes later—
Creaaak…
The closet door slowly opened again.
Kavya’s heart started racing.
She grabbed her phone and turned on the flashlight, pointing it toward the closet.
“Hello?” she said softly.
No answer.
Just darkness inside.
Her phone buzzed.
A message appeared from an unknown number:
“Stop closing the door.”
Her hands froze.
Before she could react—
Something inside the closet knocked.
Tap. Tap.
Then louder.
BANG.
The door burst open.
Kavya screamed and ran out of the room.
The next morning, her parents found the closet completely empty.
No one inside.
Nothing unusual.
Except one thing.
From the inside of the closet door, scratched deeply into the wood, were the words:
“I was finally getting out.”
This creepy horror story reminds us that some ghost stories don’t come from outside—
they wait quietly behind closed doors.
